Five Star ***** Great Getaway

Review Submitted: August 20, 2012 Date of Stay: July 2012
This Woodstock Waterfall Hideaway was absolutely wonderful. When my husband and I arrived the house was very clean and neat. It is modern and comfortable. It is decorated with very serene colors. There is a full kitchen. The house is located over a beautiful waterfall. There is a balcony overlooking the waterfall, perfect for having a glass of wine or coffee in the morning. You can easily walk to all of the cute shops and restaurants in town.  My husband and i also walked to a nearby water hole and had a picnic. We would love to return sometime in the future. It was a wonderful, relaxing and romantic way to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary.

Four Star **** A relaxing stay!

Had a great 3 night stay. Very spacious, clean, central and quiet apartment. Very pleasant owners in the gallery below. Loved all the art work in the apartment - it gave us inspiration for new projects. The fresh cookies left on the kitchen table were a delicious treat! Loved the swimming hole a short walk down the road and over the bridge - had it to ourselves most mornings! Enjoyed a quiet drink each evening on our balcony. Managed without a car by coming from New York on the Adirondack Bus - great to be able to shop locally in the food shops and at the farmers market. Next time might hire a car to explore the environs further. Quite happy to walk the 3/4 mile to the Post Office but a couple took pity on us in the heat and offered us a ride in their car. How kind was that! ...and how American not to use Shanks' pony!! (a British phrase for walking!)

Hope to return when we are next visiting family in the US.

Thank you to Judy who helped me in every way during my stay in Woodstock. The writing workshop was perfect and the Hideaway was awesome and fit all my needs.

It is clearly one of the nicest, cleanest, and most lovely places I've stayed.

Thank you,
Sal from PA

Five Star ***** Great Location, and Great Place

Review Submitted: February 22, 2012 Date of Stay: February 2012
This location in Woodstock is a moment away from some great (and unique) shopping and dining options. My wife and I ate at Joshua's (perhaps a 3 minute walk) and had great service (try the Bedouin Grill).

As far as the apartment, very clean with many nice appointments (super soft bed, excellent lighting, nice kitchen, good wi-fi). If you like the sound of rushing water, the waterfalls is below your feet and provides nice background "music".

Would not hesitate to recommend for couples that like to explore and shop, AND like to stay in nice apartments.

Five Star ***** Great stay!

We had a lovely stay at Woodstock Waterfall Hideaway. The apartment is very tastefully decorated with many of the owner's paintings and photographs to enjoy. The building actually overhangs a little waterfall and there's a charming desk and window facing it. Many thanks and hope to visit again! Chris and Emily.

THE BEST Place to stay in Woodstock!

There are not enough superlatives to describe Norm and Lila's "Hideaway". Your main contact, Judy, is very attentive, helpful, and courteous. The apartment is exactly as pictured on the web site and in the brochure. Absolutely meticulous, beautifully decorated, cozy and peaceful. Ideally located in the heart of the village, you can walk to just about everything. The sound (and view) of the waterfall is soothing, and being able to sit on the deck to have coffee in the morning while the sun rises is perfect. Every detail has been thought of - they provide everything you may need. There is not a thing I would change about this rental, and after having stayed at numerous other places in Woodstock, I can honestly say without hesitation that this is the nicest one of all.

This was our second Woodstock Film Festival. The Waterfall Hideaway was by far the better experience. The hideaway apartment was absolutely incredible. Very clean and tastefully decorated. Coffee in the mornings and romantic dinners next to the waterfall were some of our favorite times. But the greatest thing about staying directly in town was the ability to connect with the Woodstock residents and shop keepers. The town has a great vibe. We loved being able to walk to all of the film venues and not worry about parking.

The pictures on the web site do not do it justice. It is amazing. Something that always is high on the list is good water pressure. The showers were nice and it was great to hear the raging waterfall outside.

Norman and Lila, the owners, and Judy (manager) were great. Very friendly, but not intrusive. I get the feeling this will become a challenge to book as time goes on as I suspect everyone who stays plans to return! I know we will do our best to book again.
We absolutely loved it.

My husband and I spent nine days there this summer and it was even better than we thought it would be! The Hideaway is so beautiful inside, decorated with amazing detail and furnished with artwork from the Sweetheart Gallery below. The owners and manager were very attentive and helpful the whole way through. The Hideaway is truly a home away from home. We loved staying in and cooking, reading and hanging out and relaxing on the beautiful porch by the waterfall. The bed is super comfy too!

We highly recommend the Waterfall Hideaway to anyone who wants a very special vacation home with privacy and beautiful space to hang out in and many many things to choose from to enjoy nearby.

We had our best time yet out of 4 years of renting in Woodstock. Though usually we have chosen to rent houses outside of town in the past, we loved being in this apartment in the heart of Woodstock this time. Staying in town overlooking the sound and sight of the beautiful waterfall set the tone for a relaxing stay in this sparkling clean, modern, and beautifully appointed apartment. This apartment is filled with the stunning art by the owners Lila and Norman and art and crafts of other artists shown in the Sweetheart Gallery downstairs. The kitchen is large and fun to cook and dance in. All comforts are provided in the cozy and tidy living room and bedroom. The bathroom is stunning with natural stone and mosaic glass tile. We stayed 3 weeks and never tired of coming back to this wonderful space. Parking was easy in the municipal lot across the street. We used this as a base for our love of antiquing, eating, hiking, galleries, kayaking, tubing, live theater, music, art classes, and going to New York City for the day to gallery hop, easily done with the bus that stops around the corner. The weekend flea market in Woodstock is the best, with friendly and helpful vendors offering loads of diverse and better quality goods and/or junk, and plenty of conversation and info about the environs. The owners, Norman and Lila, are super friendly and helpful. We took their recommendation, and ate at "The Garden Cafe" and "Cuchina"; both great. We have eaten at other restaurants in the past and have never been disappointed with the many to choose from in Woodstock. We highly recommend this beautiful spot without reservation. I was a little apprehensive about staying at the Hideaway at first because I would be staying alone but after speaking to Judy and reading other reviews I was reassured that it was a safe place. Not only is it a safe place it is so immaculant you can eat off of the floor. The decor is beautiful and the sound of the waterfall outside is tranquilizing. There are lots of little shops and restaurants to check out that you can walk to and on Wednesdays there is a farmer's market and Flea market right behind the Bread Alone restaurant. One of my passions is photography so I went to some beautiful spots to take pictures. Places to check out are~ Kaaterskill Falls, Perrine's old covered bridge in Rifton and The Tibetan Buddhist Monastery. I even saw a black bear while driving down the mountain of the Monastery and got a great shot of it. If I had more time I would of hiked to Overlook Mountain which is right across the street from the Monastery. The views are suppose to be amazing. Although there are great restaurants nearby, I checked out the Hickory BBQ Smokehouse in Kingston which was delicious. I had a fabulous time while staying at The Hideaway in Woodstock and would definitely stay again. I had a great stay at the waterfall hideaway. I have nothing but praise for the whole experience. The hideaway was super clean, beautifully decorated down to the small details, and just as comfortable as home. The best part was the waterfall right outside the door. The rental agent and owner were super sweet and welcoming, even leaving some great cookies in the kitchen for us upon arrival. Overall great experience! We stayed at the Waterfall Hideaway for a long weekend to get away from it all and relax, and this was the perfect place. The pictures really do a great job of showing what it is, but it really is even more beautiful in person. The apartment is so immaculate and detail oriented, it feels like you are walking in to your very own place. The location is great, you are right near the waterfall and can listen to it while you relax, but yet you are still centrally located to the heart of Woodstock, so anything you need is just a short walk away. So many shops to go and visit while you are there. And you are not far from other things such as Hunter Mountain, which is where we went to go zip-lining on the second day. What an adventure! I would certainly recommend the Waterfall Hideaway to anyone looking to get away to a beautiful place with much more class and personality than a hotel. Just having the Waterfall right outside your window really makes it; it was so soothing to listen to as you relax inside or out on the balcony. Also, Judy was a pleasure to deal with, so helpful and sweet! Hope you decide to stay at the Waterfall Hideaway and enjoy! We did the research, read the rave reviews and part of me held out, consumer scepticism kind of thing, before choosing the Hideaway. But, the reviews didn't mislead. This place is lovely, inspiring, luxuriously comfortable, and pristine; it should be experienced. Everything from the details of the house and its furnishings including an extremely comfy bed, its location in town (just off a very quiet side street) to the waterfall the property overlooks created a wonderfully relaxing environment. It's a great place to do without a car, so much is within walking distance. We felt right at home and cannot wait to return. Our biggest regret was reserving only 2 nights instead of 3. It's a place we would consider for an even longer stay. There's enough to explore around Woodstock, or just hanging around the place, soaking in the spa-like tub, sitting on the balcony reading and listening to the rush of the waterfall. And if you must stay connected, the Wifi works great. Thank you Judy, Lila and Norman! We look forward to next time. Recommended for: Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing

I absolutely loved my getaway weekend!!! Judy met me on my arrival and eased my fears about my first solo getaway. She was extremely gracious and gave me a few tips on what to do and where to go. Her home is fab-u-lous. Perfect location, perfect amenities and perfectly described!!! Centrally located - I walked everywhere -- great restaurants around the corner, movie house approximately 1/2 mile up the road and right 'round the corner from CPW. I truly look forward to a return visit this Spring!!  Recommended for: †Pet-friendly, Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Romantic Getaway  Owner's Response: Thank you for your sweet message! It was a pleasure meeting you last summer, and we look forward to welcoming you back to our (your) Hideaway this Spring! Please know that it's always here for you...

We rented this lovely apartment for a weekend in October, we are originally from NYC & London, we wanted a charming little getaway to visit the catskills. We were delighted with everything about the apartment, the location is perfect and the waterfall outside made it even more special! The apartment is clean & brand new, we appreciated the attention to detail, the lovely paintings, glass lamps, the beautiful orchid in the bedroom.. made it feel like a home away from home. The deep bathtub is especially relaxing for bubble baths with the sound of the waterfall outside the window. I'd recommend it to my friends & family heading up to the catskills! Very happy with our time spent there, thank you! Laura & Shya

We had a wonderful week.
The "hideaway" is so beautifully appointed - down to the knobs on the cabinets.

Loved spending a week with Lila's paintings and Norm's photos.
Bed was scruptious.

Adventures we loved:
Climbing Kaaterskill Falls (go to the top pool!, saw a bald eagle.
Eating breakfast at Oriole 9.
Dinners at Red Onion & Cucina.
Music at Bear Theatre, and the drum circle on Sunday!!

We'll be back,
